Established in 1808, Guernsey’s chamber is one of the oldest in existence. When it was established, one of the objectives was “to prevent abuse from strangers who came here with stolen goods or to defraud their creditors which not only injure the regular trader but give an undeservedly bad name to the Island.” While we might choose different language today, we think these objectives remain just as valid today as they were 200 years ago!
